I am: out of my mind
Welcome, fellow humans. You've stumbled into my strange little corner of the internet and I hope will find something you like. Now, for a little about me:
unartistic artist
Carlena Owenby
This (blurry) photo became the face of my brand because it captures a solid amount of my silliness and spontaneity. While the image is a little crazy, The choice to label myself as "Out of my Mind" is pretty tame. My creations do not fall into one genre. I don't adhere to a single, signature style. Generally, I make whatever comes to mind. Sometimes it comes out how I envisioned. Other times the process takes me into new territory. No matter what, I am proud of what I make.

This photo was captured by my housemate on one of our ladies-day-out excursions. I generally deem myself "unphotogenic", but I have to admit that it is say to look past my pose and tell me I've mislabeled myself. My response might surprise you, because I would agree. I think we all do this at some point. Just like I can see the artist in you, others can see in me that which I cannot.
In the end, I am a genuine (and sometimes awkward) person who just wants to show the world than anyone can be an artist. You do not have to compare yourself to Rembrandt or Monet. You don't have to fit within a mold. There is no handbook that says you have to choose one medium or style. Let your true colors shine!

My adult years have taken me on a journey across the US. While I started off in North Carolina, I find myself firmly planted in Minnesota. I have truly grown into my best self here. I am a homebody, but love being outdoors. This photo was from my first international trip, to India, in January 2025. I have lots of photos from this trip showcasing all the color and chaos that India is known for, but this was photo was taken on at outing during one of my favorite parts of the trip. Being outside in a region where the horizon seems to stretch on forever filled me with a feeling of peace in the midst of what had otherwise been a very hectic trip.
